The International Youth Summit of Transylvania is a leadership, debate and wellbeing conference that was organised and hosted by students from Transylvania College for students from all around the world. The second edition of the summit took place online on the 15th-19th of March 2021. During the five days of the conference, the delegates spent their time debating on topics concerning international issues, attended talks held by several influential figures and participated in several workshops and team building activities.

Delegates representing a total of 10 schools from 5 continents came together to discuss this year’s topics. The topics were as follows: “Education in a postmodern society”, “Cultural Globalisations” and “The human impact on wildlife”. There were five days of the conference, three of which were especially designed for debating the three topics. During each debate day, the delegates participated in three types of debate sessions: official, formal and informal. At the beginning and end of each debate day, two speakers were invited to hold speeches related to the day’s topic. 

The delegates had to cooperate during the debate in order to reach resolutions, representing solutions to the issues debated. At the end of each day, the resolutions found were put in a document and voted upon. As chosen by the majority, the top three resolutions were then put into the final manifesto. Ideas from the final manifesto being implemented into the schools represented by the delegates with the help of ThinkUp International.

The organisation for the second edition started back in September 2020, with a team of 30 high school students, each being assigned a specific role within the conference. Then, slowly the planning started and the invitations to the schools and speakers were sent by November. Each day of the conference was carefully planned by the IYST team and all the technical aspects were sorted out by the IT specialists within the team. Documents such as the itinerary and the scripts for each day started being created.  

Overall the conference was widely successful,  a total of 9 resolutions were written in the final manifesto, each an innovative method to solve the issues debated at the conference. IYST was a great opportunity that allowed the delegates and the IYST team to form friendships and meet new people from around the world. This was an eye opening experience as it allowed the participants to exchange ideas and worldviews.

International Youth Summit of Transylvania este o conferință de leadership, dezbatere și bunăstare care a fost organizată și găzduită de elevi de la Transylvania College pentru elevi din întreaga lume. Cea de-a doua ediție a summitului a avut loc în mediul online în perioada 15-19 martie 2021. În cele cinci zile ale conferinței, delegații și-au petrecut timpul dezbatand subiecte legate de probleme internaționale, au participat la discuții purtate de mai multe personalități influente și au participat la mai multe ateliere de lucru și activități de team building.

Delegații care reprezintă un total de 10 școli de pe 5 continente s-au reunit pentru a discuta subiectele din acest an. Subiectele au fost după cum urmează: „Educația într-o societate postmodernista”, „Globalizarea culturala” și „Impactul uman asupra vieții sălbatice”. Conferința a constituit din 5 zile, dintre care trei au fost special concepute pentru dezbaterea celor trei subiecte. În fiecare zi de dezbatere, delegații au participat la trei tipuri de sesiuni de dezbatere: oficială, formală și informală. La începutul și la sfârșitul fiecărei zile de dezbatere, doi speakeri au fost invitați să țină discursuri legate de subiectul zilei.

Delegații au cooperat în timpul dezbaterii pentru a ajunge la rezoluții, reprezentând soluții la problemele dezbătute. La sfârșitul fiecărei zile, rezoluțiile găsite au fost introduse într-un document și votate. Așa cum a fost ales de majoritate, primele trei rezoluții au fost apoi introduse în manifestoul final. Ideile din manifesto final sunt implementate în școlile reprezentate de delegați cu ajutorul ThinkUp International.

Organizația pentru cea de-a doua ediție a început în septembrie 2020, cu o echipă de 30 de elevi de liceu, fiecare având un rol specific în cadrul conferinței. Apoi, încet, planificarea a început și invitațiile către școli și vorbitori au fost trimise până în noiembrie. Fiecare zi a conferinței a fost planificată cu atenție de către echipa IYST și toate aspectele tehnice au fost rezolvate de specialiștii IT din cadrul echipei. Au început să fie create documente precum itinerariul și scripturile pentru fiecare zi. 

Conferința a avut un succes pe scară largă, un total de 9 rezoluții au fost scrise în manifestoul final, fiecare fiind o metodă inovatoare pentru rezolvarea problemelor dezbătute la conferința. IYST a fost o mare oportunitate care le-a permis delegaților și echipei IYST să-și formeze prietenii și să cunoască oameni noi din întreaga lume. Aceasta a fost o experiență de deschidere a ochilor, deoarece a permis participanților să facă schimb de idei și viziuni asupra lumii.
